After all my abstractions, I wanted to return to nature, so I posted a simple rose. Pencils on paper, cleaned a bit in Photoshop... Thanks for your previous comments & favs, they're always appreciated! Have a wonderful week, Mark

I see a beautiful stylized rose, and hours and hours of work doing it. Beautiful mark!

A really lovely rose, Mark and it must have been hard work drawing it. What a great artist you are. Honestly.

Once again, a perfect example of your talent for paring something down to only the most important elements... not a stroke or line is superfluous. As one who has a tendency to overwork an image to death, I can't tell you enough how much I admire that. Beautiful job here, Mark.

This simple Rose as you call it Mark is anything but that as it is easy to see at first glance like all of your work it was done with such thought and care. You really put your heart and a bit of yourself in each image and it shows so well like it does here in the soft details.

Margana's remark about "not a stroke or line is superfluous." is my perception. After spending a few minutes looking a this I first thought of 'wood cut block' not the print from one but the block itself, which requires command of line and texture in a very precise manner. For me this is what I see as a study, a study in the traditional artist sense of seeing and drawing to understand and form in preparation of something else. Have no idea if this was your intent - likely not - just my perception. [The term Study on RR is so often used without comprehension that it is a beginning point in a more complete work; sorry, just one of my annoyances.]

Also agree with Morgana over the lack of superfluosity. But, admittedly, I can't seem to get beyond the profoundly beautiful sense of sheer balance in this piece. It's a total STUDY in balance. Also, it begins, so seemingly simple, yet grows and somehow keeps expanding, unfolding in some alive visual complexity. Utterly gorgeous. :)

This rose looks like it came right off the top of my Gramma's jewelry box. Speaking of which, it has a certain look that reminds me of an antique ring or broach. It is somehow old fashioned looking. It also has a hint of classy geometry to it that reminds me of the Scandinavian art found in shops. Great color and shading!!

Molto interessante la rappresentazione di questa rosa gallica; avvertiamo tutta la sua maestosità di questa regina. Excellent artwork!:)
