Hi, I'm Marilyn.  I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile.  It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here.  I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends.  Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time.  Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!!  Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet.  You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long.  Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Cool News Girlie!!! I like Blue Herons. I used to have one that would fly in, in the Spring and stayed all Spring and most of the Summer in a little backwash area in the city. I would buy minnows and release them into the water so it add to the Heron's food source!!!

I'm a little surprised that my secret heron would just prissily expose himself to you. So easy and casual, too. I don't believe in coincidence. I think you really have become his correspondent. A writer, I should have known.

I'm beginning to feel like Captain Ahab chasing that elusive white whale...will my great heron shot ever come? Marilyn, this is a wonderful clear shot; and I also like how the little bits of white in the water look like stars in a blue sky. Great capture!

you deserved the nomination and more. And this shot is a beautiful shot of the bird, for how it emerges out of the grasses, how it holds its head above them & how the water behind him is more like a sheet of pure blue with lights in it. A very sensitive shot. I came here from your post almost a year later, which you'd postworked...fine work Marilyn.
