Description
Riding along the Santa Ana River path yesterday was a feast for my eyes. I no sooner started out, and stopped cold. There must have been a hundred egrets, in groups (flocks, cliques, herds, gatherings???? I'm sure there's a very specific word there somewhere!!), alone, in pairs. This one was by herself, and oh my, isn't she gorgeous (yeah, I know, it's usually the male bird that's the hot one, but I'm giving equal time here!!) Not only that, she doubles our pleasure with her reflection!!

a simple poem with real complexities inside...just an egret on water, the water pure and sheen-like, and the reflection almost a watercolor painting below it, all captured with real simplicity. But there are subtleties, very visible full-size: The touches of violet in the upper portion & quietly painting the lower portion, the incandescent light on the egret's back, the tiny 'droplets' of reflection of the egret's head, etc. And the water, full-size, has the feel of a sheet of light. Beautiful shot. A poem.

Boy oh boy I am jealous. I have tried a hundered times to get a good picture of a egret and everytime I get within a 100 feet those darn birds fly off. This is really a great capture and I love the reflection. Very nice
