Most excellent photo! Looks like they were trying to move an old structure and plans went bad. Love it!

your eye, your eye, your eye, your eye, your eye...I just love this shot. Like Koosie says, "tells so many stories"...you caught the oratorio of decay and debris and dust and dirt, it's singing in this shot! It's a glorious image, a wreck of a truck or tractor, the beautiful treads, the weeds, the wall...and that guy reading in there as if nothing was going on around him...photography at its best, Nikolai, it's just gorgeous. (And those grays! This is a fav!)

Thanks a lot for your care of this one. I am glad to share the situation in the image: the guy is one of the team of welders cutting the wreck apart. Hope you may recollect some captures of the tanker washed ashore by a sever storm way back to the mid-60s. I have some images in the gallery. To drag the cut-ff parts they use this lumber tractor, which is a real ruin but still works. The tractor is parked against a structure housing a railroad power-supply unit. Behind it is the track The debris beside the tractor, covered with see weed, are their trophy of the days. During the season (summer) they are capable of cutting enough to make some money (after carrying it all to a scrap-metal recycling center) to survive until the next season. The tanker is almost finished, save for the engine (piston block is cast-iron and is really hard to cut with their primitive tools). In my next posting, I am going to show you what is left of the vessel. It’s the end of the day and the sky is overcast and there’s nothing else to do on this quite empty shore, except for a little bit of reading. Later on, they are going to have dinner by one of the tents. Hope the above explains. Have a wonderful Saturday. Nikolay Semyonov

Where dreams are born. Great shot reminds me that in so many places that people find themselves sitting somewhere and taken away on dreams and hopes for the future.

A great image of a the culmination of dreams slipping away. The lack of color seems to fit the situation. But then who knows what the hopes and aspirations of the welders are? Makes you think. Bill
