Description

Mid afternoon on Pensacola Beach. The water is extremely clear considering all the tropical storms they've experienced in the area the last couple of months or so. And the aqua-marine color you see is real. No photoshoppin' here. 5 years ago standing there you'd see some pretty good sized sand dunes and sea oats on the shore line, but Hurricane Ivan washed those away back in September 2004. This sand bar is only temporary, but it's always fun to be walking out into deeper and deeper water and all of a sudden you're climbing back up to only ankle depth. And that's the best time to find some great shells that the waves deposit on the sand bar. And of course, besides playing out there the sand bar is always a good photography subject. Standing there your senses can be overwhelmed. There's the ever-present fresh smell of salt water along with a constant breeze you both hear and feel. The warm sun beats down on you as you hear the constant sounds of the surf and the seagulls. Standing on the sand bar you feel each wave tickle your ankles and legs, depending on how deep the water is. The wet sand feels good on your feet and your eyes are constantly scanning the blue-green waters looking for that perfectly shaped, colorful shell. Lots of fun!!!! A great escape! marshall

Well done. Yup, your description is right on too. I used to scuba dive in the keys before they became so built up (1956-58). Here I am living in Kansas but returning to the ocean as often as possible. Bill
