Description

Mornin' All ! Yep, I bet you all can hardly contain yourselves with excitement over today's post :o) Well, I just couldn't resist posting this since it's a little pineapple I grew myself and it came out so cute and perfect...and yep, I'm a big garden geek :o) I know pineapples aren't the first thing that comes to mind at this season, but any bounty, no matter how small, can be appreciated. And it's soooo easy to grow your own if any of you feel so inclined.....just cut the top off leaving about a half inch of pulp, let it dry out for a day or so, then plant in a pot of soil....takes a while for it to grow the fruit, but it's well worth the wait....this little one was one of the sweetest I've ever had. * * * Some Pineapple Facts : The pineapple is not a single fruit as generally assumed, but a cluster of 100-200 tiny fruitlets. One third of the world's pineapple comes from Hawaii. Pineapples are the only edible members of the Bromeliad family of plants. And a couple of other interesting facts I found while perusing my Audubon Field Guide : Air plants and Spanish Moss are in the Pineapple Family An off-topic fact which surprised me, Mangos and Poison Ivy are in the Cashew Family ! ....interesting, eh :o) Y'all have a great Sunday ! ~ Love & Hugs ~ * Mina *

Congrats on the pineapple. My mom used to do that with produce she bought, too, like limes and lemons, which is probably where I got the bug to become a landscape designer at one point (we never know how the seeds of our ideas will be planted). And yes, even those little trees produced fruit eventually. She had a green thumb like you. Thanks for sharing this festive shot. I think I will try it, too. If my cats will let me. Unfortunately though I have a degree in lanscaping, I'm forced to buy artificial plants because all the critters in my house devour the real ones which friends love to tease me about. Oh, well. I can create just as many gardens with digital art. What a lovely home you have and great candlescaping. I think I see your reflection behind the cat statue, too. If so, great hair!! : ) Thanks for sharing this with us.

mina, this is really a packed photo. It's great to get a glimpse of the things you have around you. The pineapple itself is more orange-ish than I usually see, like it dressed up for autumn. (And I like that it's smaller too—makes the leaves look like a crown.) But the other stuff...a plate of what looks like sacred stones & scented candles, a goblet that looks special, a gutsy rocklike surface (yes?), the beautiful corn, what I assume is some kind of feline god or goddess, and then the mystery of what's behind all that. Behind some screen-looking partition there's a furry/fuzzy thing, can't tell what it is but it's fascinating, the top & backlit ceiling of another room, and so on...It feels like one of your paintings. And your frame has autumnal hues and dyed or batik-like patterns around it. This is a living, lovely picture. Btw, my one pineapple story is that one dropped on me when I was 20. It fell off a shelf. And you can skip the one-liners ("so that explains it") because I've heard 'm a million times. If anyone doesn't know, they weigh a little less than an Audi.
