Description
Hi, y'all!
(that was for Mina!)
This strange mix of microorganisms, Warhol & god-knows-what
is my humble attempt to honor the one & only Mina
(a.k.a. NekhbetSun)
whose gallery is known across the Cosmos.
Mina's the one with all those rich, opulent and teeming paintings
with goddesses & moons & stars & forests
& castles & florals & on and on,
always packed with deep humanity & love
(and music & art & literary references)
and a ton of fun & sumptuousness.
I tried to do a "Mina-like" piece, but it was pitiful.
(Ain't easy to paint like Mina...)
So Instead I did a "Mark" piece, with all the oddities & creatures who live in my brain...
Here's lookin' at you Mina! May you flourish forever!
As you would say,
*** H U G S!!!!!! ***
Lots of 'm!
your admirer in that tiny gallery to the left, just as you pass the stairs,
Mark
(ps--It's much bigger full-size!)
(pps--pencils & pens,
pretty much assembled in Photoshop)

Looks great full size Mark and what a splendid dedication for Mina you created. Your mix of microorganisms and so much more is cool and adding Mina's catch phrases was the perfect touch ;)

Wonderful tribute to a dear artist, in your own unique style!

It's quite fascinating... myriad shapes and scratches...fascinating switches in tonality... mysterious lines and splatters that seem to want to escape from the page but are forced back by the edge.... Yes, it's not a 'Mina', but that doesn't diminish it in the least. It's a 'Mark' and I'm enjoying your little gallery on the left. ;^) Beautifully and thoughfully done, Mark. And I see you certainly made Mizz Mina's day! -M :^)

Wow... It's a whole array of lines, dots, colors and map gizmos all communicating to each other. Nothing is at rest here. But all the living & moving parts are nestled on a bed of pale and antiqued yellow while the creator is tucked into a corner of pure white. Very interesting and I can see Mina loves it!

I agree with odie on this one, fully...this whole image oozes with life; there is a pronounced, underlying universe here, and it's dynamic and active. Much like a living thing, busy with...well...living. The colors are rich and sumptuous. The lines, dots, walls, and fluid-like membranes, all working together for the benefit of the whole. It's also a great dedication to another great artist. What I love about my discovery of Renderosity is the fact that so many artists with so many distinct styles can all come together and share; it's constantly inspiring, and this piece is an example of that. It's also one of my favorites, though it's taken me THIS LONG to see it. But I've seen it and it's one I'll be returning to on numerous occasions.

I came all the way back to see if I could find the posting of the tea house .. and found this. Sigh. I am in tears. I am just greatful that her daughter chose to leave her gallery up, that her avatar still is there on her comments in my gallery. I miss her so much. A beautiful, brimming with life and even joy, work for our beloved Mina.
