Description

The winds of October are moving on in, and we're finally seeing signs of fall here in Memphis. The end of the growing season for Morning Glories is almost here, and the once full foliage vines are looking quite anemic and haggard. But oddly enough, this is the time of year when the flowers bloom in most abundance. The leaves may be dropping off and ones still attached turning yellow, but that's only because all the plant's energy is now directed towards the flowers. They are the biggest of the season and the colors most vibrant. This is one from my yard. It's basically white with just a few lines of blue. I've been noticing them each morning, and yesterday I had to take a moment for a shot or two before I went to work because by the time I get home they're history. Happy autumn! marshall

Wow. Gorgeous shot! They're hard to grow up here. (Except bindweed, which is a whole 'nother story.)

The same thing is playing out here. Actually, mine flowers got about half the normal size but there were 10 times as many as any other time this year. I am doing clean up in the garden though and just took mine out for the winter. There were so many black seeds that dropped while I did this that when I was done, the ground was solid black with them. I'll have more than enough come up next year! I love this shot. The pov and macro focus is perfect.

Beautiful shot, I love the little glistening texture to the petals as they catch the light....
