Description

Hello RR friends! At first let`s say "Thank You" for your big interest at my last pic "Greetings from Saxonia", it was overwhelming! My special thanks to all of you who took this pic as their favorites..... This pic here shows the inside of the building: It is a dining room inside with a round table. Under this room there is the kitchen, and in the middle of the table is an elevator for all the good food and wine kings have to offer..... This house here was constructed by the saxonian prince - elector and king of Poland August der Starke ("August the strong") in 1723 in baroque style. At first the building had a defence function and canons were placed in the upper room, later the weapons were replaced through a kitchen with elevator.... This happy building replaced a medevial castle, the so called "Emperor`s Castle". After a visit of the preussian king Friedrich Wilhelm I. and his son, later the legendary king Friedrich II. "The Great" of Preussen, August der Starke ordered to change the name of this building into "Friedrichsburg". This name lives on till today. This place is only a small part of Germany`s most famous citadel: Koenigstein ("King`s Stone"), the state citadel of the Saxonian kingdom, situated 250 meters above the river ELBE on a plateau mount. Its a gorgeous place, but more tomorrow! Took this pic with my beloved "girl`s camera", the NIKON Coolpix, one week ago. Had to shot through a closed doors window glass...... Thanks for your interest, hope you enjoy it! billcody Berlin billcody

You did exceptionally well through the glass Wolfgang, a very interesting table and story, I have never heard of another table like this. In this respect it seems to be unique, imagine the smells drifting up to the seated guests, sitting salivating before the meal arrives though the center of the table. I would love to have been there juts to watch the expressions when the meal arrived in front of them. The room itself is fantastic, as must be the views it accords to anyone in there, I love the mirrors around the room reflecting the windows and the greenery outside the building. The roof looks great where the outside of the building reflects onto it, I usually press the lens right up to the glass to avoid this, but in this case I think it is great. It give the impression that part of the roof is missing and imho I think it works very well and ads to the overall image. Superb capture and narrative, very interesting indeed. Excellent work. Bravo!!!!!

A beautiful and elegant room, the light is perfect. You would not think that you have taken this through a glass door. An exceptional and impressive photograph!

It's always a pleasure to know a little bit more about the history of Germany, this great country next to my hometown. This is a superb capture, Wolfgang, and the reflections in the mirrors are just gorgeous too!
