I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

That is one thing about Africa. We just have the most awesome of sunsets. Beautiful, peaceful shot Carin. Dankie vir jou kommentaar oor my kollega en ek het gelees oor die vliegongeluk. Dit is skokkend en baie hartseer vir my gewees. Daar is baie soortgelyke ongelukke deesdae. Sterkte vir jou ook.

It is fun to pull out the old images from time to time. This was a good time for you! Isn't the redness a special ingredient of your sunsets? Wonder if it has to do with dust or sand in the air or something? Bill

Those colors are astounding, and since you're a bit melancholy, reflect that mood perfectly--beautiful!! Looking back at the old stuff is so much fun, I see things I thought were awful and they're NOT--I'm glad you found this!!

That sky colour is something else Carin, I don't think I have ever seen a sunset like this before. Very atmospheric, oustanding capture. Bravo!!!!!

Beautiful! I am originally from Arizona and the sunsets that we had there were just full of color, just like this. Great picture!

I can just hear the howl of the hyena as the sun sets in the distance in this utterly fabulous capture, Carin! Love the vivid color, and the silhouetting, especially of the gnarled tree.

What I think of when I think of African sunsets - the end of a blazing day, heat firing up the sky in its last moments like it was splashed with the blood of a fresh savanna kill. Oh my, maybe I'm feeling a bit melodramatic... But one thing is for sure... this is one heck of a stellar shot!
MrsRatbag
Very beautiful shot; I love the pink sky and the bare branch silhouette.

great shot Carin. Maybe you should raid a few more of your old pics for here

Excellent capture Carin.I can hear the howls of the Hyenas and the Lion's Roaring.I am thinking back to the time when i were in Kruger Park for a full weekend. At that time i didn't even have a camera. The photography bug bit me afterwards. For sure when i go there again i will certainly take lots of photographs.

Wow - this is absolutely breathtaking! It almost looks like the scene was arranged on purpose just for the shot... Wonderful!
