Description

This is another image taken on Sunday at the Monte Casino Bird Conservatory. Told you I'm going to flood you!!! This Eastern White Pelican (and what a beauty he is) took off and flew across a pond to pick up a snack on the other side. He is majestic!! We were told that the pouch underneath his beak can hold 40 sardine sized fish... Now that is a load! Thank you for the comments and favs on my previous upload of the Golden Pheasant. Superb capture Carin, had it just taken off or was it just coming in to land, carrying 40 fish it would be like a jumbo jet, I wouldn't want to be near for splashdown, lol. Excellent work, much better than any I have managed to capture. Bravo!!!!!

I tried and tried to get a nice pic of pelicans while in San Diego...just couldn't seem to have it all together when the time was right. Excellent shot here! Aloha~
