Oh kewl, nice shot! This reminds me of the jar of buttons my grandmother had- as children we loved to shake it around and see what we could see next- I'm pretty sure some of them must have dated back as far as the depression or before. :) Thanks for bringing back some nice memories for me :)

Sweet memories of the button box :) On a rainy day, take out Grandma's button box, sort and match and look at all the different buttons... Nice memories. ( and yes I have my own button tin)

I DO have a button box....or three or four! They look exactly like yours and they exist for the same reasons precisely! And they are threaded in sets the same, there are probably international protocols for people like us. Thankyou for normalising this arcane habit, Tara!

Oh yes, I have a botton box too, but not anymore for collecting bottons, but for my children and gr. children, who loved to play with them. So when I was at the flee marked, I sometimes was able to buy bags with different kinds of exiting bottons LOL ! A really wonderful capture Tara :)))

I like this! The colors are wonderful. Did you know there is a male counterpart to this? Both my father and my wife's father (and our grandfathers too) saved nails, screws, nuts and bolts in coffee cans and jars. And for the same reason...they weren't going to jump in a car and race off to an Ace hardware store. Memories are made of this. Bill

I have a button box somewhere, it's been a few years since I stopped knitting but when I used to make cardigans for my nieces for school I used to buy butttons in tubes, of two dozen. With my nieces(I have thirteen) attending different schools, each having different uniforms, the buttons also where different colours. I have some loose like yours Tara, but most are sorted into tubes. Baby cardies well they had to be different again, with all sorts of sizes and some carved you know what I mean I'm sure. I also have about the same number of nephews and I used to knit their sweaters/pullovers. So I can appreciate your button box, I still cut buttons off old garments that have worn out. Excellent capture and collection. Bravo!!!!!

I have a button box but it is not tin. I love going through it and seeing the buttons because many of them remind me of why I bought them and what I sewed them on to. Mostly it was clothes for my son and daughter so it always brings back great memories.

Ever notice that no matter how many buttons you save, when you need 4 of the same of a certain color and size, you find you only have 3??? :-) Fantastic macro, Tara.

Oh yes I have a button box and it is tin. My mother never through out a piece of clothing with out first cutting off the buttons. Wonderful photo full of colors, shapes, and memories.
