Description

John G Slover was my great grandfather and he made all the intricate wood work with a feet driven scroll saw which is still on the property the Marguerite Rogers House Museum, built by John G. Slover in the early 1900's, is located at 113 East Dumble in Alvin, Texas. In 1938 James A. and Marguerite Rogers bought the house. The Rogers' daughter, Emaline, bequeathed the property to the Alvin Museum Society in 1995. The Society restored the home and named it Marguerite Rogers House Museum, in honor of Emaline's mother. needless to say I was gone yesterday to Houston and Alvin Texas.I will try and catch up in the next couple of days thanks for viewing and any comments

Excellent example of early American building style. Those older homes are so cool; sad that they've become white elephants with the high cost of heating etc.

I can remember my Grandmother in Alabama having a house very much like this one. Always find it fascinating the way the style of homes changes from one era to the next. I really love some of those old home styles.

Love all that scroll work on the trim of the house! Like Mina, I cannot imagine doing this with a foot powered scroll saw. Though I have sewn on a pedal sewing machine, and once you get the hang of it, it's not that hard. But scroll saw work?? I don't think so, give me power, LOL. What an awesome heritage you have, perhaps that's where you get your artistic abilities from?

At first sight. It seemed to me well that it there something of step too catholic .Escuse me an expression Quebec peoples lol.Nice catch was to pass and especially this black and white then the prospect makes it vulnerable to our fears. Richard cheer and mile mercies a Work hipper and very creative ((5++)) À première vue .
