Description
A couple of people inquired as to the original rendering which was done in an oil painting style. In particular one wanted to see the detail. So here it is! (By popular request even)
This is the original HMS Dreadnought, the ship that started the "all big gun" craze (so to speak). HMS Dreadnought was launched in a minimal amount of time by using the turrets off of a smaller class of battle ships that the British Navy was building at the time. The building time enabled the British to claim several firsts. Armed with 12" guns she was the first and the fastest when she was launched. But there were some minuses. For instance the secondary armorment was almost non-existent. So they put them on the turrets. Imagine trying to man them while the main guns were firing! (this could be quite exciting).
Surprisingly HMS Dreadnought did not participate at Jutland because she was serving elsewhere. SO this picture is pure fantasy. The captain here is chasing the splashes so as to throw off the enemies targeting. The idea being that as the enemy ranges by his shots, they are behind the targets change in direction and distance.
The Dreadnought can claim one other distinction though, it was the only one of its class to run down a Uboat! She was scrapped in 1922.
The model was done in Wings and the major assemblies were combined in Poser!

It looks like a sub chaser with battleship turrets. At least how I remember a friend's balsa wood subchaser with paper printed deck.
