Description

Never expected such a warm support for my "Leaves". Thank you so much for viewing, faving and commenting. This one is all about the moth that was sleeping on a peg. We also need time to relax every now and then, especially with all that crisis picking up. Nikolay

you know, you never cease to amaze me doing this very original combinations of objects in your shot, objects you normally don't see together but that are brought into a new context through your shots... I really like this one!

Awesome .. that moth grabbed my eyes and wouldn't let go. I had to tear myself away to view the image as a whole! And I like it very much.

(sorry for 3 ebots--my browser was crashing, but it's working now...) this looks like an older & equally beautiful picture from Shanghai (I think), only this is starker, using higher contrasts of light & dark, giving the shrubs mystery & luminescence...The moth is all 'light' against the darkness, and it almost seems like a photographic negative, which emphasizes its ethereal light even more—like it were a spirit. (I really like that.) Also, the peg is a gentle sepia—something you do in various shots, i.e., getting subtle sepias & other hues in the middle of blacks & whites—which I think is wonderful. Finally, I'll say it again (since we usually don't look at these things): I like your framing: not just the thin white next to the print—which offsets the blacks—but your usual deft choice of gray. Framing isn't easy; I can work an hour on a border and don't often succeed. Your framing is always deft. A last thought: I can't tell you how many photographers have said to me privately, that if they had to choose the 'ultimate shot', it would be in blacks whites & grays. I never fully understood that, since they were all really fine with color: But when I see your mix of b&w with sepias, greenish & brownish tones, etc., and your wonderful use of accents (like here), I can see why photographers say this. Another fine work from you, and a fascinating subject too. Those shrubs are amazing to look at.

WOW...what an astonishing image! I love the light/dark contrasts and the moth is what does it for me. It's perfectly captured and its placement (something natural) in the whole composition just brings the whole thing into such an interesting focus. Great work! Again, I love the light/dark interactions here
