Description

Another set of maps: this time, land & rock formations. Drawn with pencils & then Photoshop (full-view is much larger)...
* * * * * * Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends and may we all remember that it's a Fall festival, a time of taking our siblings from the cold & sharing food & shelter. Let us put aside the 'nationalistic' part-- i.e., taking land from others-- and celebrate their gifts & the knowledge that the earth belongs to everyone. Peace & great warmth to all! Mark

A harvest festival indeed; sharing of food and goods perhaps easily accomplished here in the states by one's local food bank. My first impression was geodes and agates - wonderfully done triptych.

Mark these images are simply amazing and a perfect way to celebrate the coming holiday and spirit of it. The colors in these images are magnificent and they all seem to have such a presence about them. They remind me so much of the most beautiful stained glass windows one could hope to see even though I know they are your drawings:)

This is great, Mark...I'm reminded of various semi-precious stones when I look at these, as well as geological survey, or satellite maps. Ah, but naturally I'd see something like that, since so much of me seems to dwell (at least fictionally) in the hard vacuum of outer space. I love the structures visible in each of these images and the sense of color is astoundingly rich. Your holiday sentiments work perfectly with the images as well...as they provide an additional emotional anchor that allows for other interpretations of what is seen. Great work here.

conscious, subconscious and ethereal level ...sometimes our soul gives us a visual to absorb what we already are connected to in life....thank you for notice of my work in crossing my path-more so, reaching out so that I can expand as well--was torn between this and the tree of life (flames) from your gallery. when doing art a word comes to me and try to do justice to the inspiration of the "thought". Sometimes when one just lets go and listens to the moment; what discoveries there are to make!
