Description

The road from Settle heads up the Ribble valley and twists and turns through the Dales as it follows the River Ribble up to RibbleHead viaduct and beyond.Along the way you pass the little village of Stainforth which as so often with these small hamlets if you took away the cars and telegraph poles it looks like time has forgotten them and remain very much in the fashion these places were built in the 1800s and earlier with their solid built cottages with mullioned windows. To the east of Stainforth the Ribble runs down the valley over a number of falls. We had to drive across the bridge in the photo which when you get there is just a little wider than the width of the car..we got over it but a while later someone hit the wall..nasty. This actually wasn't the shot I wanted but where I wanted to be just to the right I had walked onto thinking it was wet and slipped. On closer inspection I realised I was standing on black ice just a few feet from a very big drop into the river...scary.

What a wonderful POV and scene, excellently captured. What we do for "the" shot, right?

Beautiful shot.. I'm glad that you didn't slip in otherwise your camera hand may have been out of action for some time - and you have such a talent!

Holy smokes! Watch out for that black ice! A nasty spill is not the way to get (or not) a photo. Another splendid shot, and a warm feeling in my heart: I so love this area of England (reguardless of the temperature there). Thank you.
