I'm retired, but so busy I haven't posted anything in a while. When do work, I mostly use Carrara 8.5 Pro and Daz Studio for composition and rendering, and Fireworks and Photoshop for postwork and textures. I'm more a storyteller than an artist: I like scenes that tell a story -- or strongly suggest one.
I live in Sacramento, California USA with my wife. Kids are grown and gone, so we volunteer at our church, and travel as much as time and wallet will allow!
I REALLY appreciate the many great artists here who have been SO wonderful with their encouragement and pointers. PLEASE comment or just say "Hi". I appreciate your words good or bad: It energizes me, grows me - and keeps me going.

Good message, bud! My wife worked in the domestic violence field for 20 years, and it's the same old story: kids caught in the middle. Sure hope they can get some professional help; don't give up!

Larry my friend I am so very sorry to hear this news and know exactly this situation as I have seen so many go through it. The Grandkids are the one's who will suffer and all you can do is support your Daughter and hope God can work a miracle for them.

This is so sad!!! I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's failing marriage. I hope that they can see eye to eye again and get their life back on track Your portrayal is excellent, the stark emptiness of the scene, the two children in the middle and the turned backs, a very poignant image indeed!!!

The starkness and darkness of the image hides the savage heat that rages deep within their souls, hidden but yet there for all to see. No platitudes will resolve this, it has to come from their own hearts.

Truly heart-rending!You and your family are in my thoughts tonight. I hope that they can somehow compromise with each other and remember, by looking at the children, that the marriage isn't the only casualty here. The best thing you can do is what you're doing already, letting your daughter and the children know that you are there for them.

This is a heart-wrenching picture too, Larry. I'm sorry that you're loved ones went through such a rough patch - and you with them. Since this was a while back, I hope it all resolved for the better. Thanks for sharing, though, and for understanding why I had to do my sad picture as well. It really did connect with yours without me knowing it. Gun aka redheadgrrl

This is just too painful for me to say much. Been there, done that. Your image speaks volumes and captures the torment perfectly. I hope that sharing this with us has helped you to cope.
