Renderosity has opened a whole new world to me, its a fantastic place and have had some brilliant support from many new friends.  I retired from work very early through ill health so I took to photography from the very basics.
Since joining I have grown in confidence with my photography and I now think because of RR that I take it a little more seriously. I started off here using a Fuji Finepix 6500fd, it took some great pictures but I'm hooked now so I have now(April 2008) bought a DSLR SAMSUNG DX10 and having fun learning the settings etc. ( these things take me a while lol)ÂÂ
I am so fortunate to be with a wonderful person in my life, Sylvia. She is not just my partner but of course she's also my best friend. Previously I have been married but seperated a few years ago and have two fantastic children. I NOW have two fantastic grandchildren !!!
My interests are photography, i have had a dabble at Acrylic painting, and I enjoy long walks out in the countryside.      I also have an interest in anything historical.  I want to have a sample of just about everything there is in photography, who knows what the future holds!
Thanks for calling by.    Alan

There's an old church on the mainland that is now an antique store that would love to have these old gates. They have a few of them out front for sale. I love all the textures in this grand photograph. Such beauty in decay.

I remember these very well Alan, I have been through them a few times whilst working for Smiths scrap metals. I must say it looked a lot different to this back in 1972. Excellent capture. Bravo!!!!!

In places like Canada, and Minnesota USA, they have 6 and 7 feet and get on with it like clockwork. here we get six and 7 inches, and the country grinds to a halt?...I suspect it's the ultimate excuse to scive off, anyway to the image, this is a great shot Alan, there is real history here, I love the big rusty tank/silo thingie there, top notch mate!

Well done Alan. Beautiful old iron gates. At one time iron work like this was a sign of wealth in the US. Today this reminds me of old, decaying, abandoned mills in Massachusetts and Maine. Seems like the entire industry of farbric manufacturing has left our shores. Time marches on doesn't it. Bill
