Hi, I'm Marilyn.  I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile.  It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here.  I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends.  Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time.  Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!!  Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet.  You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long.  Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Wonderful image!!!!

Birds are not like deer. In great roosts they might relocate. Feeding individuals pay no attention to humans.

Cracking shot, very impressive to get so close Marilyn, I think I'll have to take this as a fave! I was out on a hike one day this summer and I noticed a very close beauty of a bird (unusual colours and markings)and I was ever so quiet y'know hardly daring to breath WHEN another party member shouts up LOUDER than loud "hey Alan, its a bird" Don't you just want to die ? great capture!
JeffG7BRJ
I don't know about you wanting to die Alan, more like wanting to strangle Kate I think. I'm taking a guess as to who shouted out. Excellent capture Marylin, I admired this when you posted it earlier in the year, you were very lucky to get so close without it being spooked. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!

If this does not end up in the LWITG, I'll eat my hat, this is a stunning shot indeed, I'd even go as far as to say it's very very proffesional, well done Maz!!!

OHHHHHHHHH!!! A completely PERFECT capture! Now, if this isn't near the shot of a lifetime, eh? The details are indeed crackling (not to mention mesmerizing!). Exquisite.

Just gaze upon the lighting and textural effects depicted in this shot! Utterly fantastic portrait of the fearless and magnificent raptor, M!

WOW! WOW! Oh, among other things, I love birds of prey. I was in Dallas just before coming to the Czech Republic and a rather large hawk landed on the back patio of my friend's place. I wish I'd gotten a shot of him, but alas.... ...THIS, however, more than makes up for the one that got away, so to speak. I love the details here and the resolute expression you've caught! This is fantastic animal portraiture!

Great capture!!!

This is stunning! It would look great blown up big on a wall...what a wonderful opportunity for you, I wonder if he was someone's pet who got away?

He looks like he is saying; "And this side, how's this?" Cute shot of this all to Majestic Raptor!!!
anahata.c
wow! Ditto the above...a fav & what a fine shot...Your adjustments accomplished the delicate art of enhancing the hawk's inner light, not changing it. (Changing is an art too, but here you coaxed out something luminous inside it.) Beautiful, and the sepia-grays are perfect, as if it were photographed from a pristine memory-bank...and your contrasts are beautiful too. Well, after seeing your color, this shows your love & feel for blacks, whites & grays. Beautiful shot, and a beautiful posture too. (Sure he hasn't posed for the camera before??? Come on, he's a professional, right? Was he expensive? Did he say, "I'm great from this angle, give it a shot!" or "no, this is my best side...") A fav. (I said that didn't I...well I just said it again!)
