Renderosity has opened a whole new world to me, its a fantastic place and have had some brilliant support from many new friends.  I retired from work very early through ill health so I took to photography from the very basics.
Since joining I have grown in confidence with my photography and I now think because of RR that I take it a little more seriously. I started off here using a Fuji Finepix 6500fd, it took some great pictures but I'm hooked now so I have now(April 2008) bought a DSLR SAMSUNG DX10 and having fun learning the settings etc. ( these things take me a while lol)Â
I am so fortunate to be with a wonderful person in my life, Sylvia. She is not just my partner but of course she's also my best friend. Previously I have been married but seperated a few years ago and have two fantastic children. I NOW have two fantastic grandchildren !!!
My interests are photography, i have had a dabble at Acrylic painting, and I enjoy long walks out in the countryside.      I also have an interest in anything historical.  I want to have a sample of just about everything there is in photography, who knows what the future holds!
Thanks for calling by.    Alan

can you see Santa?

Is that steam I see rising from the crowds? Like a herd of wildebeest? Super shot, Alan, I feel as if I'm there!

Yes and I can see the thwaites sign above his head and the Spar arrow/tree. Looking at this I'm glad I didn't go, I would have had one hell of a time trying to get through this lot. Excellent capture Alan, showing what a popular event this is, somehow it belies the monetary climate and the recession that we are supposed to be suffering at the moment. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!

Yes I did spot Santa in his grotto1 I do often wonder who actually enjoys these Christmas fairs...was there a saboteur starting a fire!!! Candid capture and the crowds don't look too enthused. Great shot of a typical English event.

Great crowd shot! You found a most excellent perch. Wonderful stuff!

Looks like you've even captured representatives of the Salvation Army in the middle of the crowd. "The books" say we should avoid including crowds into our photos but this is an exception to the rule...the crowd is the attraction. Well done. Bill

great work mate, I love crowd scenes, and as Bill says the rulebook says no, but hey what the heck, in this day and age of photoshop and digital manip, who needs rules anymore :)...Great job here Alan, and yes I see Santa, but I have been a naughty boy this year, so he won't want to talk to me, and will probably leave me a lump of coal :)

Looks very festive Alan... I do however get closterfobic very easily now that I am aging at a rapid rate... I am trying to avoid crowds like this at all cost!!!! LOL... Neat image Alan!!! :)

The first thing I spotted were the fabulous chimineys! LOL All that work for the crowd and I found the chimineys fascinating. :-) But then I turned to the crowd and I do like that lady in the black bonnet and shawl. Everyone seems to be having a lovely time in spite of what looks like chilly weather.

It is a busy festival indeed! Not an easy time for Santa as I can see. But I like the mood and light in your capture.

The atmosphere looks fabulous there - love the tree too. As a Yorkshireman, myself, now with a Victorian Teashop, I felt pretty much at home looking at this.
