Description

Home is many places to many people. For me, it has been many places as well—in a more literal sense. Prague has been home in multiple ways, as has the smaller town of Český Krumlov. Even when the Czech Republic lies far behind me, these two places will still be home for me. A little over a year ago, the German city of Dortmund was home as well: I shared it with a friend and a cat. And like it's Czech counterparts in my life, Dortmund ranks as something of a special place. Friends live there, and well...friends are always what make a place special. I've also left quite a few of my possessions there, including my scant collection of DVDs, all purchased during the crazy time just before I'd left Chicago. I like the idea that I have things scattered around the globe—little pieces of me in a sense. Because I'd posted so few pictures of Dortmund and the surrounding areas, I decided to remedy that matter. This is a different view from the stairwell leading to the apartment that served as home while I lived in Dortmund. I was always interested in the play between light and shadow there. I spent hours on the stairs, trying to get the best shots possible, and this is one of the few that I'm satisfied with. * * * * As always, thank you for viewing and reading, and commenting, and I hope that you're all on the verge of a great weekend.

I can see why you like the play of light in this stairwell. I especially like the reflections on the handrail. Lovely photo.
