Description
First of all: Thank you for all your comments on my latest painting :D Glad you liked it even if you don't even follow Dr Who or Torchwood.
I thought I would do something else and break the circle of Timelords and other mythological characters and paint a...um...Cherub..or Angel...whichever you prefer.
And I thought I would post this work in progress for a change. If you want to skip this and wait until it's done, that's fine with me ;)
This time I'm not really looking for reality. This time I'm painting more in the style that you can find in church ceilings and walls - very pink skin and red cheeks...and visible brush strokes.
There's a difference between painting from a model and a photo, and the way the old masters did it in often bad light etc. was their own reality on the canvas straight from their optical nerve.
Not easy to do from a well lit reference photo, but one can always try ;)
I haven't decided about the background yet, but it will probably be outdoors. I want to put her in a bit of sunlight and focus more on the lighting itself once I'm done with the character.
And this model is wearing a horrible wig in the photo, which I will have to shape in a more natural way...looks a bit too "plastic" otherwise.
So this will change a bit more.
Hope you're not running around like hens just because of the holidays. Personally I'm taking it easy ;) I've been busy wrapping gifts for Steampunk customers during this week so that everyone else have their gifts ready ;)
Thanks for peeking :D

A very lovely delicate technique quite fitting for the figure - anxious to see the final version. What, Dr. Who you say? Must go look.
