Description

I'm not use to save a copy of what I do as I work on it, so I nearly missed these two completely. Easy to forget since I get so caught up in what I'm doing :p But...in the first piccie here I've spent another 4 hours or so on the hair, corrected the skin, the eyes etc. In the second piccie the character is still not ready, but I wanted to paint the background to find the balance in the light before I continued. To those of you who doesn't know btw...the reason for the multi-colored background in the first piccies goes back to traditional oil painting. You do an underpainting to get rid of the bright white canvas since it's very difficult to find a natural skin color otherwise. The underlying layer also optically fool us to believe that there's more depth to the colors than it really is. Been used for centuries and I learned about it from dad. Anyway...I hope to finish this today. Don't have the time to fiddle too much and there's always a risk that I ruin it if I overwork it. I found myself wanting to smear the paint with my fingers yesterday btw...LOL...I think I need a touch screen to do this :p It's too closely related to oil painting for me. A big thank you for not telling me to go away yesterday...hehe Glad you enjoy this. Christa

this looks great. The skin is wonderful. The hair below the shoulderline worries me... looks like a solid volume rather than flowing hair.
