Hi, I'm Marilyn.  I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile.  It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here.  I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends.  Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time.  Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!!  Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet.  You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long.  Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Stunning POV Marilyn. I love the color of the grass... And yeah - I agree - don't EVER think you can fool Mother Nature!!! Sad about the dunes though! :)

People spend millions of dollars, if not billions, to try to contain Mother Nature. It proves to be expensive, and mostly impossible. Excellent image.

Absolutly gorgeous!!

I hope you can find the same spot again, and take another picture for comparison. This is a wonderful image!

full-resolution (full-view), the photo has beautiful detail. It's very peaceful, because it's just high grasses standing tall against a quiet landscape which nevertheless has a great deal of demonic energy waiting in the wings. Hard to imagine this same landscape can eat up whole tracts of land...The beauty & dignity of these old grasses is that they stand tall until they're literally felled; and for all their brittleness, they never flag. Their gold & partly dried stalks have a wonderful crispness and eloquence to them, and your shot captures them not all bunched together, but standing almost one by one so we see how eloquent they are. Simple, dignified and a bit mournful, your shot evokes a quiet dignity in the face of inevitable change.

Amazing that so much goes so quickly!

Beautiful shot and I do hope once you get back out there you take another shot so we can see what Mother Nature did.
