Description

This is a shot of the beach where I spend so much time. It's looking thru the pampas north towards the dunes that lined the beach. I say "lined", past tense, be cause the dunes are gone. That monster surf I've been chasing wiped out 1000' of them, flooded the pasture to the right of the foto. I'm heading out there later today to see for myself the huge changes. Mother Nature has reclaimed her own--do NOT try to fool her!!

People spend millions of dollars, if not billions, to try to contain Mother Nature. It proves to be expensive, and mostly impossible. Excellent image.

full-resolution (full-view), the photo has beautiful detail. It's very peaceful, because it's just high grasses standing tall against a quiet landscape which nevertheless has a great deal of demonic energy waiting in the wings. Hard to imagine this same landscape can eat up whole tracts of land...The beauty & dignity of these old grasses is that they stand tall until they're literally felled; and for all their brittleness, they never flag. Their gold & partly dried stalks have a wonderful crispness and eloquence to them, and your shot captures them not all bunched together, but standing almost one by one so we see how eloquent they are. Simple, dignified and a bit mournful, your shot evokes a quiet dignity in the face of inevitable change.
