Description
This morning, my cherished friend Sumavali lost her beloved mother, Amrita. She was a breathtaking soul. Amrita saw this little watercolor as I was making it, and asked if I'd make her a copy. I said "I'd be honored to give you the original even though it's just a little painting!" She said: "How can it be little when it reminds me of my childhood in India? In our faith, sunset is a time when light & dark come together as one..." Amrita was a yogini--a female yogi--who left her calling for family. She was planning to go back and finish out her life in service: Never was there a soul more natural, more ordained for that calling... She moved like she walked on air, she spoke with such gentleness she melted away lifetimes of pain, and when she held your hand you felt you were being held by Sarasvati herself, the great goddess of beauty & art. In memory of you, Amrita, a sun in human form with a voice like the ancient sutras and a heart big enough to contain several of these earths--which were not big enough to contain your love. I was honored to walk in your shadow: Your love was not only the union of light & dark, but of the human and divine... Your daughter, Suma, and everyone who knew you will miss you more than you know. May the wind be your companion and radiance be your guide, if it can stand up to the radiance from you...

Such a warm, rich glow to this. The downward curve is so much like a sad face and the hint of yellow draws your eye immediately. The neat thing about this image is the dark, torn edge and the asymmetry makes it particularly appealing. It's like a hug waiting to happen. Very nice.

The colors of the heart and the core of the soul are embodied in this wonderful image. Your words speak with passion and a wonderful gentleness. I know that your words will filter into the beyond and be heard. What a lovely and divine dedication this is. Thank you for sharing these things with us.
