Description
I've had my tongue in my cheek so much lately about my fancy lighting studio, I think I should tell you the truth again about what I'm really doing!
My "State-of-the-Art Backlighting Studio" is my living room window. It cost me nothing ... I open the drapes, and there's the light. :)
My "Low Light Studio" is a piece of black fabric on my ironing board, with a desk lamp off to the side and the camera on a tripod, using the timer.
That's it. That's all the fancy equipment I'm using for these light shots.
Oh ... see the dark outside edge on the fan? That's because one day I picked up the fan, bumped my arm on something, and dropped the fan in my Scotch!

Thanks for your recipe Tara. You may see it repeated here :-) Your end result is A-1. I'm stepping out the door for another moon shot...have never seen it brighter than tonight! We have low light polution around here...that helps. Bill

Very similar to my garage studio. I push all my tools, sprays and projects out to form a "gully" where I spread my $1 paper tablecloth from The Dollar Store, prop up the back with the pile of tools to make the "background" and then pull my 40w, swing-arm, shop light over. I can direction it as I please - back, front, side or down to one side. A tripod is a must and a timer as well and poof! I have photos. Some work, some don't but all is fun. If you guys could see the pile of saws, nails, glue guns, etc., around my flower shots, you'd crack up laughing. Love this shot and congratulations on harnessing the sun for your window lighting. :-)

I'm so glad you have the perfect living room window light. This is as elegant as a beautiful fan should be. I am waiting for a classically dressed Spanish lady to pick up and use it in a most languid upper class way.
