Hi, I'm Marilyn.  I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile.  It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here.  I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends.  Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time.  Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!!  Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet.  You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long.  Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I see the face, now! All I could see before was Venus deMilo, but now that you've shown me the face (with your initial carved on it!) that's what I'm seeing every time! LOL!

Probably worth thousands of dollars in some trendy gallery if you could get it there. Which face?? I can see a monkey looking at the sky as well..

Like Karsten says....'It is disgusting that, underneath their feathers, birds are naked!' Good old Sam! What a great find.. too heavy to get to the truck?

Well spotted! It's the eye that makes it, I think. Great hunk of wood!

You need to get someone to help you with that chunk of driftwood and move it into your garden area at home. That's a real stunning object, there.

A piece of petrified driftwood, which resembles a hefty hunk of twisted caramel candy, with a face - with a "3" carved into its forehead - that resembles a human/eagle hybrid. Reminiscent of icons that some ancient societies worshipped long ago. Anyway, a fine capture of the sculpture, contrasted against the sand and ocean, M.

another series begins! (I was just thinking, wouldn't it be great if this face started its own gallery & had shots of 'you'? And said to all its driftwood friends, "found this human on the beach today..." I often think my artworks are doing that on their own website, with comments like "not sure I like the person, but the execution is good!") Anyway, I love the twisty liquid movement of this thing: It really moves. And I love Tara's suggestion that that's your initial! Really, this looks like a state-protected area. (As Denise says, "Great hunk of wood!") And you know what? I love the debris you got in the background too: little logs lyin' around doin' nothing & that big desolate sea. This is a real sea portrait. You're getting to be a real 'natural' with that ocean. You're really communicating with it deeply...
