Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

And here I thought it would be a shot of you hanging out in some drinking establishment with a glass in your hand! LOL, got it wrong again! Well, this is much better anyway, no matter what you had to do to get it. Beautiful colors in the sky and wonderful textures all through!

Whatever pain you went through for this shot ... it was worth it! (I can say that, sitting here in my comfy chair!)

The older I get, the more often I emulate Richard's suggestion. Shoot blind from what you think will be the right angle, look at it and reshoot. As Bill and others mention, that low camera angle works well.

Glad you did what it took to get a great shot! Nicely done!

I like the POV....has a lot of depth

Belly up to the bar, boys! See what the boys in the back room will have, and give me the same (Marlene Dietrich)! The devil-may-care attitude of the photographer. Superlative lighting, textures and DOF in this photo, Marilyn!

It just has to be done. Wonderfully captured scene. I really looking around the area where you live it looks so layed back country style & close to the ocean.

Amazing what one wll do to get the perfect shot. Well worth crawling around for, I'd say.

love the big bulbous rocks as a foreground, and you show a real painter's eye capturing that big branch swinging up & out of the frame. That's very Japanese btw—a spindly form balancing out all the massive rocks, and cutting through the rest of the picture...and you give us nice low swaths of water and background land, and the rest? Big old sky. Very nice proportions. Worth crawling on your belly for! Hope you don't have bruises...(Has a mole come out yet, and said, "pssst: that's my home you're lyin' on, lady!" Well whaddya gonna do: The bug's got ya, and it looks like you're gonna be crawlin' in all kinds of places from now on!) And why do they call it a 'bar'? Do they serve liquor? Or are those rocks lawyers? (Hey, you said "Dot's nice"—something like that—I get my shot too...)
