Description
It was only 3 months ago that Julia & I spent a week in the Great Smoky Mountains area. But tonight as I work late on the computer as she sleeps soundly just a few feet away, it seems like a lifetime ago. Or more.
But this photograph, until tonight buried deep in our photography files, is a vivid reminder of a wondrous day spent in Cade's Cove, in the depths of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
If you ever get the chance to visit there, please do. It's far too late tonight to explain why, although I could.
This photograph was taken in the bright of day, but at a very fast shutter speed. This kept the sky from being overexposed, and Photoshop restored what was originally there below, but the camera missed.
That's it. We're in single digits tonight here in Memphis. The field in this shot is currently covered with snow, in spite of Al Gore's insane hysteria. Stay warm! There's an Ice Age coming!

An amazing vista! I can see some of the charm here that must make you love this place. I agree with you. A new ice age is indeed coming, and it's going to affect life and civilization more than most can even comprehend. I'll bet Victorian Village is again a picture postcard right now.

Over time Mother Earth goes through periods of cooling and warming. Sad that opportunistic and egocentric men are trying to use the Earths natural cycles to advance their own agendas. At the very least Al Gore should practice what he preaches. He flies around in a private jet and his palatial abode uses 20 times the energy consumption of the average American household. Global warming my A$$! But an ice age? I dunno. I'd venture to say we're in the bewteen times.
