Description

First of all, I'm glad that you still enjoy following the progress of my paintings. It helps me too, because it means that I can't really quit and just put it away...heh Anyway...I've finished this painting and the really tricky bit was the dress. I don't know what it is with me and fabric, but it's not even half as interesting as painting hair, for example. And as I've mentioned before, velvet is a real challenge...and the same goes for silk. In the original reference photo, this dress had a pattern to it...and I decided to skip that all together. Instead I focused on getting the stones and the pearls in the back to look half decent. So it's really simplified. Other than that, this didn't really present any big challenge that the former painting I've done of Cate Blanchett had to offer. Always tricky to get the shades in the right value and in the right place etc. But that goes for most paintings. Thank you for peeking in :)
