Description

Hardknott - Lakeland Fells - Cumbria. No this is not a lunar landscape, it is taken from the cairn at the top of Hardknott which stands at 1803 feet. Mother nature at her wildest and best. A few miles from here the Romans built a fort..not a posting you would apply for I would think. This was taken during a six hour walk that started at the old roman fort and headed across Hardknott and returned via the very picturesque Eskdale valley.

From way over here in Washington State, USA, it looks like a most ambitious painting by a master landscape artist. Hard to believe it's reality on film. Breathtaking.

A favourite place of mine too! A marvelous capture, of the cloud shadows dancing across the hills. PS I bet the Romans posted up there didn't wear sandels and skirts!!
