Description

It's this time of the year again, (here on the East Coast in Australia) when these beautiful specimen taking over in my sub-tropical garden. They just thrive on humidity and warmth. HELICONIA ROSTRATA or better known to some as Lobster claw, related to Bananas & Strelitzias. It also seems a little reminiscent of the raging Bush-fires, we are experiencing at present in the State of Victoria, shaped just like a flame... I like to dedicate this to all the 181 victims, who died during this carnage, caused by Arson. *BB*

Talk about in your face colour and the Lobster claw shape also reminds me of fire crackers, very kool specimen ! I can also see how the shape looks like the fire images we have been watching on T.V., I hope they catch those bastards ! ~Cheers~

Quite an interesting specimen, very colourful- great shot! On another note, regarding your dedication; It is quite a tragedy that so many have perished for some idiot's causing a fire.

Wow! These are Fabulous!! I've never seen them before; they're absolutely beautiful! Great captures of them too. Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of the victims of the fires there, and as Jeff says, I hope they catch the bastards.

Stunning blooms, they have a luminesence with such vivid colours. Great images. I manage to grow strelitzia as they can tolerate cooler temperatures if kept dry, in our UK winter indoors. These look like they would need a bit more warmth?
