Description

So, yesterday I took off to head south to San Jose, California. It was raining when I left, no big deal; it rains all the time where I live. However, I wasn't expecting what came next. I drive somewhat parallel to the Coast Range, which gets up to about 2000'. At 1800', the you know what hit the fan. Snow, ice, sleet, hail, rain, all at once. The roads were icy, snowy, and all I could do was follow the path made by the cars in front of me. At one point, the snowplows went flying by on the OTHER side of the road--I was still crawling thru the mess. This went on for an hour or so, once I started going back down, it turned back into rain. I thought I had it made. HA---NOT!!! I hit traffic in San Francisco, took 40 minutes to go 6 miles..then once I got back on the freeway, the rain started AGAIN. ANd not just rain, but RAIN--as hard as it can get. But I made it, and my friend and I got out the wine and the tequila and that was that!! The sun's out this morning and I'm goin for a walk!!

Wonderful image, and that Coastal Highway can be treacherous in good weather, let alone a snow and rain storm! I should tell you about the monsoon we hit on the freeway in San Diego, some day. That was quite a wild ride! :o) It has been raining off and on here, too, in the mid-valley.

I watched the hail hit here in the vallery and was so glad I was 14 stories up in an office building and not on the ground driving. You poor thing. I was told there was snow in the coastal mountains yesterday and I was a little disappointed to have missed that but, ya know what? I'll wait and see it next time. Why is it snow can't happen when its warm out and you can actually enjoy it???

Oh, you have all the adventure and fun! Wild NASCAR driving, tequila, et al.... Tell me, what is the exact technical difference between rain and RAIN? And intrigued by this painted-up Easter Island monolith...has voodoo written all over it.

The totem was echoeing your harrowing experience driving thru the snow and ice. Welcome to Winter...LOL Glad you arrived at your destination, safe and sound. Hope you used the 4-wheel drive. I've had to engage mine a few times, here, this past Winter.

(RR keeps stalling on me!) great shot for the story! It's got no snow & ice, but this is the god who caused it all (either that or it's your friend after you told her the story!). You not only brought out the terror of the mask, but got everything else to radiate its colors. Big, bold & lots of fun & love the colors radiating across the whole shot. Love it. (I was in one of those storms years back & I couldn't see 2 inches in front of me. I spun, the car flew off the road and I landed nose down in a huge snow bank. [And no, a snow bank isn't a place where you deposit snow...I'm dealing with a punster here!] Glad you're with friends now!)

This mask should have blocked the snow, rain and the RAIN. Love the colors. I agree that there must be some voodoo going on here. Dana P

What a great garden gnome! Sorry about the trip, but it sounds like the destination made it worth the trouble. ENJOY!
