Description

Following the end of "Humanity's First Interstellar War" there was a sharp increase in the revision of ship designs, as the lessons of the war were applied to newer craft. One of the early modular cargo ships was the Ehta-class ships, which saw a very lengthy service life. However, the war brought home its shortcomings, and a revised model was introduced only a few years after the fighting ended. This is from one of the shakedown runs of this new cargo ship, as the prototype was put through its paces. ----------- This ship was modeled and rendered entirely in Bryce 6, with a mix of preset and my own textures. The background and planet and nebula (which I admit was used in an earlier post as well, sorry but I like this one, so I couldn't using resist it) was all created in Photoshop. Thanks for taking a look. This is a new model I made this evening, so any suggestions to improve it would certainly be welcome. You guys have always been a big help when I've needed ideas.

Very nice. I love that "hard" sci-fi look to the ship. Very practical looking.

Very nice. I like the engines set near the center of mass; I assume they're all four on equally long "stilts", but its hard to tell from the angle. Great cargo modules too. And of course a great starscape background.

Your modeling is just getting better and better. You are really creating your on unique style and this is what really sets you apart from others in this genre! I have a question for you though, are you rendering the ship and planet at the same time? Cheers, David

Beautifully done. I like the ratchety modular cargo pods. The ship reminds me of river barges being pushed or pulled along by a tug boat. I could see this same set-up extended into long strings of the cargo pods with an engine or crew module in the center and then another at the far end pushing.

A fabulous render. However, I have a question about the ships design. I'd think the propulsion jets would damage the front "containers" or freight capsules. Wouldn't it be better to have the engines at the rear where the exhaust wouldn't hurt anything? You'd probably would have to have the fuel tanks with that rear unit. It could be able to detach and attach to the capsules or the command module. It could be like a modern railroad train, where you have an engine that can push the cars from behind and all the cars can be coupled and uncoupled. Or the engine unit could be connected by a long set of framework to the command module and the individual capsules docked along the frame. Just something to think about. Grin.
