WOW ! This one makes me think about these old cave paintings, even though they didnt use these colors. It is because of the black "stone" like background to the turquoise drawing. It looks really beautiful and I like you used the turquoise color for the shade of the stone.

Okay Mark I must admit after viewing this wonderful work of art and then reading Helle's comments I must agree with her. This does remind me also of cave paintings and has me studying it closely to see if I can decipher their meaning. Wonderful idea my friend :)

Actually it puts me in mind of paper, drawings on a scrape of paper, under UV light. Quietly strobing in the dark of the room - cool.

You surprise me over and over..Your two dark stones together like only one, with an unique shape. The blue bamboo you draw over them, from the top to bottom as a protection...and the blue over all it, covering free the paper canvas.Appears to me alive.I like it,thank you.

Beautiful composition, Mark. And fantastic craftsmanship. Love your hand made pieces. Lovely colour scheme... looks like a lot of trees and flowers inside the leaf. There would be great symbolism in that.+5

It reminds me of a fossil that might have been found ages ago. This has a wonder depth and dimension to it. It holds within it the thoughts of the ages. Marvelous work!!! I really like this one.

Atmosphère : on dirait comme la découverte d'un objet ancien appartenant à une civilisation disparue...

I love the colors in this; it could be so many things. But I guess that's why it's abstract, so we can see what we see--beautifull!!

I like the textures. The leaf looks to have torn edges. Actually the leaf appears more like a boulder to me with carvings of bamboo on it, like an oriental petroglyph.

I like it too - the bamboo element is more crowded than in Japanese art but it does look well on the stone like background.Good choice of colors and composition.

Everybody is saying they are stones. But, you've called them abstract leaves. I would say the depth of the leaf is enhanced when you stumble upon it in the moonlight. Then I imagine the moonlight causes the leaf sap to glow, much like a light producing glow worm. The veins and outlines are more visible and create the lovely shadow beneath it. I wonder - would it be cool in your hand?
