Description

Come for a ride with me. Long Island, New York is 110 miles in length. New York City in all its' five heavily populated borroughs (Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens, Manhattan Island, and Staten Island) blocks easy access to and from the west end of Long Island. My favorite way around this traffic mess is to take one of two main ferry lines from the northeastern end of Long Island across the Long Island Sound into Connecticut (or vice versa). My montage/collage is a little busy but hop on the ferry with me (picture #1), cruise east than north (#2-#8), arrive at the mouth of the Thames River (#9) with New London on the left and Groton on the right, and finally, stand by while the Captain backs the ferry into the dock (#10-#12) downtown, New London. And just like that, I've saved about 150 miles of driving in heavy traffic on my way north to Maine. Hope you've enjoyed the trip. Come back and see us, ya hear? (old southern talk. LOL) Bill P.S. Credits to durleybeachbum (Andrea) for inspiring me to do a little more than usual for this montage/collage. TRY A ZOOM, BETTER FOR THE DETAILS.

really nice, Bill, I've been there and you caught the many stages of the trip and the clean & open feel of various places along the Island...(and yes, "Come back and see us, ya hear?" is definitely southern talk, it sure isn't NYC talk, as I know you know! I was only in NYC a year or so, in the old East Village [St. Marks Place to be exact, in the late 60s early 70s] and I'm quite sure no one ever said "ya hear"...I could tell you what they did say, but it would close down the site...) You got the clear & open feel of the Island as I remember it; and I like the journey too...I'm sure montages like this take time & thought, and it pays off: A really thoughtful piece of work...
