Hi, I'm Marilyn. Ă‚Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Ă‚Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Ă‚Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Ă‚Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Ă‚Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Ă‚Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Ă‚Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Ă‚Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

The colors are wonderful. I haven't seen the blue fungus but while in Ft.Bragg, I was able to see lots of mushrooms in various colors. My daughter-in-law went mushroom harvesting in the forest behind her house and was able to sell a good portion to a local buyer. Its that fungus time of the year.

In my part of the world they called turkey tail fungus. Wonderful to see a blue and orange layers together.

A fascinating photo. The rings on the fungus remind me of tree rings. Never having studied fungus, I wonder if there is any connection, i.e., does each ring on the fungus indicate a day's growth or something? Just wondering out loud here...no need to answer. Good job.

Say now, they do look like shells from the seashore at that, only more colorful. Stellar lighting and contrast really bring out the bright colors of the multitextured fungi, Marilyn!

Seeing fungi close up is like seeing a highly talented person that few know but whose talent knocks you out: You want to say, "where've you been all these years—you're terrific!" Fungi close up are always knock outs. I don't know where the rings come from either, though i'd like to find out...You caught a very musical swaying bunch, and in various colors too. They're primal and yet very refined. And I like that you caught them 'in medias res', in a way that makes us feel they go on forever & we just came in in the middle. Exciting shot of one of nature's most mysterious organisms...
