Description

“I can only note that the past is beautiful because one never realises an emotion at the time. It expands later, and thus we don't have complete emotions about the present, only about the past.” Virginia Woolf Thanks again for taking time to view and for all your comments etc you care to make.. Been having some problems with staying on line for very long so am late to catch up with my own comments.. Catch you all soon

A beautiful image that does conjure emotions and an curiosity to know what memories were created by those who lived in this home. An interesting quote, but I am not sure that I agree completely, as I have experienced much emotion 'in the present' of a moment. It's only -time- that changes the perception of that moment and the emotions that we remember can change each time we recall that memory, based on our emotions on any given day.

Although i disagree with VW on this, her quote is ideal for this emotive pic.

Yes Maria I tend to agree with you I tend to think she was referring more to childhood memories of the past ..

I think, perhaps, that the details in this picture are minimized by the strong light, like what is done to our memories by their accompanying emotions... I didn't say that right, being no Virginia Woolf. At any rate, you portrayed her meaning well.

I think i would go as far as to say the past was beautiful in ways, but i would not say it was the good old days.beautiful capture of the past and the light passing through the window.

A fabulous pov on an equally fabulous composition. The extreme sunlight on the light colors really opens the room up nicely.

Love the light and atmosphere. While some may have not like the bright light, I think it adds to the atmosphere of the image - it's kind of like what you might see if you woke up in the morning and your eyes haven't adjusted to the morning brightness. The quote works well with the photo, and I have to say that I agree with that quote 100%. I would definitely not consider myself a nostalgic person, I prefer to talk about things happening now and in the near future rather than reliving past experiences. But I do feel that I have stronger emotions about the past (even things that only happened a week ago) than most things happening in the present moment. This quote really made me think today. Excellent post!
