Description

The ladies of Fire Snakes squadron investigate a mystery in the back alleys of the air base. Captain Dina Campbell tells the skeptical Hyosung Bae to get her arse in gear, while Ever Seiyama and H.K. Spendlove consider what may lie in wait. Behind them, Xiaqi Iyanez and the Zentradi Laelea Foliar discuss the situation. The men of the squadron are absent… because I haven’t built their uniforms yet. Just playing around to put some characters together for the first time, otherwise I’d spend a week working on tiny details. First real attempt at making and using dynamic clothing, and their properties are still being worked out. There are few examples of Macross female pilot uniforms, so I combined the generic female uniform with the look of the male pilot uniform. The fabric texture needs adjusting to get rid of the moiré pattern that may show up on some monitors (or I could use texture filtering, but Poser’s filtering is teh sux0r). When it gets built, I hope that my air base can look even half as good as Stonemason’s Back Alleys set used here.

Looks good. The draping of the jacket on the second one from the viewers left looks odd, it is sort of pushed under her breasts, but I really like the way the one in yellow in the center looks, very good job on the dynamic cloth there.

One, two, three... SIX characters in the same picture??? Amazing! Have you rendered in layers, or they are really together? My computer would have exploded trying to digest so many polygons! HUGE and great job on the clothes and the skins. You have built interesting and different characters, not six copies of the same face. They really seem alive and full of personality (Laelea is always my favourite!) But.. what about their shoes? Such a nice uniform should have coordinated shoes, or maybe boots.... It's your homework for the next picture! ;-)

I upgraded my PC in January, so it hums along happily, but it was Poser that almost exploded. They are all there in one huge file that takes 10 minutes to load. The shoes are there, but I found a more interesting camera angle that shows the slope of the ground, giving a foreground to the pic. After I spent hours converting a shoe model to fit 5 different figures, they got cut from the picture! There may be individual character studies that show off the whole uniforms.

great skin shaders, interesting characters, and really good lighting and materials. the clothing textures need work, but their dynamics are pretty good and you've done a great job so far. you might look at bagginsbill's matmatic loom materials. the far left woman's hair really breaks the realism (it looks like she has a conehead), and she looks snaggle-toothed. between that and her weird wig that doesn't match her head or brows, she breaks the mood and excellence of the piece. the camera angle is very good, and though it's an interestingly contemporary scene for such futuristic uniforms. impressive work so far, keep going with it!

The Loom is awesome, thanks for the info! waits for RDNA to come back online to download it Campbell's brows render oddly; don't know why, and there was AO strangeness in her mouth. I actually like the hair, but may adjust the color. Keeping with the "realistic anime" theme, it's meant to be over the top. Somewhat. Though written in 1982, Macross actually takes place in 2009, and my continuation begins in 2014. Funny how Macross has now become a contemporary story!
