I couldn't put up one more house without a garden or Andrea (durleybeachbum) would give up on my postings. LOL. But maybe true?
This beautiful little home is known as the Home Sweet Home Museum. It is in Colonial New York in the town of East Hampton. Only thing missing is a blue sky.
Here's a quote from the website of the museum: "Home Sweet Home and its contents exude a charm that is understood and felt the moment the visitor steps into the house. The fine 18th and 19th Century antiques, china and lustreware appeal to our aesthetic and practical sensibilities. From 1907 to 1927, Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Buek owned and lived in the house and furnished every room with authentic period pieces as a shrine to John Howard Payne. Upon Mr. Buek's death, the village, by referendum, bought the house and the collections and opened Home Sweet Home as a museum on December 15, 1928."

well I checked the website, and yep, that music could drive one to drink. JH Payne wrote that? Well get 'm on the phone, I got some words for 'm...It's a really nice shot, you got a really big swath of ground & mound so that they frame the house nicely. It's a very green shot, and it feels like a place that I'd like to be. You got a nice chunk of sky too, which caps the whole thing off...very nice picture. And I saw some of the artifacts on that site, yeah, those were days when people made things by hand and it showed in the design & the natural & beautiful imperfections, which are very apparent when you hold them in your hands. A nice bit of history from you...very nice upload.

I do so love an old growth garden. Although my house is nearly 50 years old, No one has ever put in a garden and left it long enough to produce old growth. I have only two of the original trees planted when it was new but the gardens had long been removed when I bought it 8 years ago. It was only 3 years ago that I finally got serious about planning a permanent ones. Lovely and cozy shot.

Looks comfortable. The architecture is that of a Cape Cod Saltbox house with the front entry apparently overgrown. The the quoted write-up is so super-slick as to turn me off. Think I'll wait in the car. Good photo.

What a beautiful old house! Almost like an old English cottage in ways! Cool! Like it very much indeed, Bill. BUT! You are quite correct! I'm now going to drink a gallon of whisky after listening to that music for six seconds! Ha! Ha! That's pretty awful.....But an interesting site once you turn the row off! Take care, mate Rob.

Interesting wood shakes for siding that appear to show a 16 or 18" reveal to the weather and yet remain flat. The board on the roof must be covering an old wound or possibly where a chimney once stood. The roof shingles are showing a solid 8" to the weather as well. This has been kept in good order from your photos. I would doubt the chimney had multi-colored variations to the brick in its original build, though these mixed please the eye, they are not very period. Nice capture.
