Description

Hay barn on Lopez Island. I wish I had something interesting to tell you about this! It's a shed in the middle of a hay field, built for keeping hay bales out of the rain and the wind. An ordinary sight here, but I'm mindful that not everyone lives here! Wood plank walls, wood shake roof. (Only of interest to those of you who live in places where they don't build with wood.)

Neat shot. Soon the gold and red will be turning to green once again. This is a sight rarely seen anymore, anywhere since the advent of the 1200-1500 pound hay rolls. Looks like the Lopez Islanders can still do it their way and that is good for them. In this case, hooray for the old way:)

Beautiful! Our barns are often open-sided for air flow.

I am from such a place. But here we use a very different material. I live near by large paddy feilds( India, Kerala). Huts are common here. I shall post some of them next week. Good shot. I enjoyed this.
