Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Cool photo. Goes to show, if you can think of it, it is available in San Francisco. We lived there for two years, so I'm not just saying that:-) We with young kids, stuck with the beautiful parks, the ocean, the bay, and the fantastic restaurants. Was this a quick run through the Tenderloin?

Superb POV and ambiance portrayed in this wonderful San Francisco type nighttime capture, Maz! Your brother-in-law was most tolerant during this effort.

I love the rainspots on the lens. It gives the shot another dimension, and increases the feeling of being there. Nice!

This is a fantastic, brilliant, lively image! I love the rich reds, the yellows, and yeah, the raindrops add a kind of supernatural element to the shot, given it's subject matter. It's so easy to imagine the spots as orbs. Fantastic work, and I love the angle. I also love the contrast between the garish (though beautiful) neon and the older style of architecture emerging from the background. Super!

I must admit I am too much of a cynical old skeptic to believe in any of that stuff!

it really looks like it's snowing (does it snow in SF???) In any case, it's a moody fine shot of that kind of district in any city, and you got the glitzy sign-colors against that grainy night background, the way these neighborhoods look behind the glitzy street lights. A real night capture...And you might want to know that, years back, an old girlfriend loved to photograph; and whenever a bunch of us would drive to dinner, etc, the line was: "Who's gonna ride with the photographer???" (Said to mean, "who's willing to stop every 10 seconds so You Know Who can take her 2 million pictures???") Yes, I understand. And you shoot, thinking, "one more shot & they'll kill me..." Well the shot was worth it, I've seen these districts in many cities including my own...
