Description

Yes Sir...he's been like that ever since that man they called; king of Jews died up there ..... Oh Really? , I've put him in charge of at least 50 crucifixions , Why should this one be any different? Sir, I'm not sure .... other than to say, it was a little spooky up there ! What do you mean,SPOOKY....? Explain YOURSELF!!! Well .... for one thing ..... just before that man died ... He raised his head and cried out loudly to the sky and then his head dropped and he was dead .... like snuffing out a candle ... it was that quick!!! And THEN the sky turned just like it is now ... It shook me up quite a bit too....!!! Well... PULL yourself Together... and don't speak of this to anyone ... You here me? YES SIR!! OH and one more thing.... KEEP an eye on him and report back to me... ANYTHING unusual ... you understand? YES SIR..... there is one more thing ..... What do you mean ONE more thing ? Well when that man died and the sky turned ... I could of sworn, He muttered something about him being the Son of God......... Hmmm! Now that is interesting ........ Don't speek of this AGAIN !!! And KEEP ME POSTED!! ....... Sorry about the above ... my imagination is getting the better of me today Anyway as stated in the working title I layed some stones down, so that the soldiers don't have to stand in the mud anymore ! ;) Then blocked in the rest of the canvas with thin watercolor like washes of color and thinner , this helps in two ways , first it allows me to examine the color composition and gives a like color base for the thicker pigments yet to come ... the fun part !! It also get's me started on that large and intimidating wall surface , which I played with a little ... Still have to fix the perspective on the cornice molding under the window .. will have to do this later with thicker pigment . The color pallette has'nt really changed since the beginning of this piece , nor do I expect it To. tom

Again, this is fascinating to watch. As for keeping the faith. Try being one of those few among the masses born with no real emotional make up or conscious trying to do the right thing, when you are given more to looking at things in terms of analysis and fact, and what is or is not cut and dry. I cry out for proof, for evidence, for something beyond feeling to know there is something more to life than just what you see. Especially as I look around at a world that often seems devoid of human decency, let alone a loving God's presences. If I can manage to hold on to what little faith I have then so can you. Its not easy. But who said it would be.

Looking at the picture and being a part-time history nut as well as having parents who are very religious, I can imagine that you are probably very close to what was said during this time. Very impressive work and dialogue! I'm glad that went ahead and posted.

Tom, this is wonderful. I am really looking ahead to the events of Easter Sunday and the subsequent celebration...when we all get to say, "He is risen, He is risen indeed". There's the proof for the faithful. I hope the empty tomb is somewhere on your future to-be-painted list:-)

it is one thing to follow up your paintings progress itself, and it is wonderful so far, but to enjoy this together with your commentary adds so much, it makes it all the more exciting :) this is an inspirational process, because i dig way deeper into your presentation, idea and thought. and now i think about doing it similar in my future uploads, possibly, thanks for that! it is also inspirational to see something about christain history (of course, the way you see it), something quite rare to find! happy painting!

Letting your imagination free is good. I think that anyone who is drawn inward to experience being in the passion and crucifixion has an incredulous stunned feeling that brings many questions to the surface. There is a transformation that begins. You communicate that very well as a believer and storyteller. I like the water between the ground rocks. It give the sense of a storm having occurred. As far as the cornice molding and perspective go, I am lousy at that, so it looks OK to me. It will be interesting to see how you change it.

I have learned that this centurian Longinuse later become a christian and become a martyre from a book called " The Poem of man God". This books is written around 40's , but I have also read in a travellers note written by a priest from our land about 100 yrs ago, that he visited the centurian's tomb in the Holy land and he mentioned the same name. This peice of art realy fills the gap in the history of art. I haven't seen any art work that speaks about the centurian.

You know you are dong well when from my perspective I wish I could do what you have already done and be finshed...lol.....And you are still working on it...Shows your committment to excellence and to your subject..... I love how this is coming along....Your commentary and perspective is always appreciated because it adds a non-visual personal touch....I love seeing how you approach each new surface and subsurface and bring out the emotive qualities that you desire through your medium...in your own voice....Beautiful as always Tom.....Let your imagination run as free as your spirit!!!!!!
