My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Ah,attacks of night time anxiety....follows us throughout our lifetime I guess. I'm not usually into words as much as images, but this one really moved me today. Well done!

Very eloquent prose which I like very much.. It seems to hold true to life that maybe we do learn as we grow older!

Ahh, yes, those wonderful hot flashes. I was reading along, all serious, and read that line and burst out laughing. Well spoken, and I'm glad you like the person you are with when you are alone in the dark. We all like her too. I like your writing as much as I like your photography.

And at 80+, a deteriorating dotard, you go from day to day, thankful that you've lasted this long.

I once saw a Bacardi ad, of all things, that announced that some people relish the dark because it liberates the other senses. I think I saw that in the pages of OMNI magazine, wedged in between pages of science fiction and gonzo-journalism-style science fact. Anyway, I thought of that when I read this piece. It's brilliantly composed and wonderfully paced. I love it.

Life is a sad thing, and at night we feel the most that sadness. You found words that reach down very deep. Thank you!

This speaks to me on yet another level. Of the few poems I've done, I myself don't like my, "Alone in the Dark" (for the challenge) and now I know why. If you think you are relaxed about all of this at fifty, wait 'til sixty:-))) My challenge piece was contrived to fit the requirement. I, like you, am quite comfortable with the person I'm with when I am alone in the dark. Thanks, been wondering for five weeks why I didn't like that piece.

Oh yeah, do I get this!! All these stages we go thru, to finally really learn to accept who we are and know it's all as it should be. I love those moments after I get to bed, and my mind wanders. Moments entirely our own.

Oh yes, how liberating as the decades gets treated by your tongue. In between 20 and your last verse, old age sets in, beware!

some nights I just hit fav after fav, like I hit a motherlode in a gallery...well this is my third fav in your gallery, this session. I agree with Chip about the pacing & feel, etc. It's just right. And I understand how the smaller things become the center as we get older. And the sense of being at home with ourselves...And I understand the feeling, in the dark, of the ghosts of passed loved ones (friend or family) speaking to us in the dark...a beautiful piece, relaxed & introspective, and just right.
