On Aviation and Photography:
"You haven't seen a tree until you've seen its shadow from the sky." -- Amelia Earhart
“You don't take a photograph, you make it.” - - Ansel Adams
UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

I'm partial to blue, and yet there's something about this B&W... I like it.

Oh! Yay Ronnie! :) I hadn't thought of that ... but he's right. Mono is fabulous! Excellent conversion.

Very nice Bill love this as well as the previous Colour version. The high contrast is even more effective here

Oh man, this looks like a style of art photography from the mid- to late-1930s. Memory banks are low, but the word "Bauhaus" comes to mind.

Very striking in black and white, Bill! Great contrasts and shadows... well done!

Great conversion, definately my choice! Very well done, Bill! Clive

Yes, the black & white really works well for this image. Well done!

I have no preference here. They work equally well whether it be in b&w or color, Bill. Actually, the b&w above reminds me of the 1930s and some of the work projects the Roosevelt Administration came up with, such as the WPA, to ease the depression.

both versions are appealing Bill

Both of them works for me too. Excellent. Aloha

wow Bill, this is another picture altogether. Your b&w tones are silvery, you really applied them well. (There's an art to this, and you got a beautiful silken quality to your b&w.) Also the tighter crop is beautiful, esp in monotones, because now we focus entirely on the lights & darks of that bridge, and on your beautiful pov of it. And the water-texture and slope of the cross-shore trees and the sky too...they all take on a harmonized tone with your b&w. (I liked the original too, like Richard: But it's so nice to see this version. It's such a subtle & silvery vision. I think it's beautiful.)

Well, my friend, while EVERYONE is going with the B/W choice, I'm afraid I'm going against the flow! I like the 'Blue' one better. The slight crop improves it a bit.... But either way, I just love the view of this bridge. It's not an 'Old' one. Or made of anything special. BUT, it has a really 'artistic' shape to its design. Grief! I'm getting all arty! Help! Great work. Rob.
