Description

Hi Friends This is an image of the Namib Desert meeting the Atlantic Ocean. To me this scene has an almost surreal feel to it. Taking pictures here are often difficult because of the almost constant fog present. I'm not a climatologist but it has something to do with the warm desert and the cold Benguella current flowing from the southpole. The beaches of the Skeleton Coast also have multi-colored sand. It has the traditional color beach sand but also dark pink, greenish and black sand. It is apparently caused by different minerals present in the sand. You can see the dark pink (almost reddish) on this image. Thank you for popping in and for your very valued comments and favs on my previous upload. Do zoom! Take care. Hugs, Carin xx

Life and death running alongside each other... Very obvious mood of desolation and harshness, well captured Carin.

Earth is such a surreal place and I know this (at least from National Geographic, and I really want to see it for myself. Maybe I'll be able to, in the company of a charming Russian photographer, if my plans work out!) This is surreal and otherworldly!!! It's also incredibly beautiful and so full of details. Fantastic stuff and I am glad I finally got around to looking at this and simply going: "Oooh...pretty!"
