Description

I've watched Joe's work for many months, and what moves me each night--without fail--is how thoroughly he adapts the sinewy world of fractals to any vision he has; how he applies it to so many people he loves--through dedi after dedi--and collaborates with such absolute joy. Joe's gallery is a huge welcoming mat: Everytime we go there we're reminded that art is, at base, Communal: It's a giant act of love. Joe--aka 3x3 (gallery here)--is from a group of artists who use fractals as the base for nearly everything. He shapes fractals into trees, mountains, oceans, people, abstracts. He appears to draw marvelously & paint marvelously, even emulate printmaking marvelously. Yet he melds these all into organic, pulsing art: His multi-media is truly multi-media. And night after night he honors artists: He comforts their pain, dances when they're happy, makes art for their special days and holds them in their loss. And he collaborates: I come from Classical Music where collaboration is required--but in painting? drawing? we're often alone. Joe reminds us that collaboration's possible in any art; and, judging from all those who who work with him, he's probably as caring out of his gallery as he is in. Joe, I remember the first piece you made for me. (Joe's made me two images: Imagine how I felt taking so long to post one!) I sat staring at this gorgeous tree, how it shone from within and billowed into a beautiful sky--and all I'd given you was comments! Yet in return you made me a genuine Tree of Life: That's what you do here, that's what you give. This piece is but a guess at the ripples of your soul: You're one of the wonderful gifts to this site, you remind us we're never alone, and if I can convey some of the delight that I've felt in your world, then I can offer this piece with deep joy...
* * * * * * Thanks to you all, for your wonderful support: As always, it means the world. Have a wonderful Wednesday, Mark (Photoshop.)

Fantastic dedi Mark ... very well said. As I scroll your work from top to bottom, I get the unmistakable sensation of a large, beautiful waterfall finding its way into my room. Magnificent writing and art ... and the feeling of community ... it's going to be a good day. Thanks!

I think this image is one of those versatile beauties that allows the viewers to see all the things they love best in it... I see a frozen waterfall under the moon, with touches of moss around the edges, a stunningly beautiful image! You are a master!

What do I see, some forms...a bird, a nose and a high heeled shoe and that's just for starters. As for fractals and Joe...great verbal description. Joe has commented a number of times my way...it is time for me to revisit Joe. These dedications of yours have a way of bringing us all closer together. But then, you specialize in that art form:)

You have created a lovely universe here of soul colors and flowing designs moving gracefully down to earthy greens, and then back up again to heavenly dark blues, much like a journey of the artistic spirit. This seems a perfect image for Joe and his creative journey. And your words flow with their own special melody. I imagine the music of your heart playing with this. CC

This piece fairly pulses with life and fun and energy and passion--the perfect image for Joe!! I wish I could see it all at once, on a wall and let it dance and sing and entertain me, for that's the way it makes me feel!!

the full moon; along the graphic creases of the tree trunk; gaze from this to one of our tree trunks nearby. The way the light plays off the living trunk of yours to one in nature. The capture of the soul; or the temporary temple that holds life reflecting back the light from source. Oh how do love your work.

This is a beautiful piece. I love the gentle roll of the colors and forms as they cascade downward and fill your image. This is such a wonderful dedication and really speaks so passionately about art and the community that we all share.

It runs!!Full of energy and passion.Always different from the each others you have done. This is a journey of the all feelings and passions of your soul...and so, colours and lights and all ongoings of nature flow in your painting. They dance ,they sing, they mixed and you oblige us to tremble with the vigour you give them. And in an informal way,you produce art, with a great and important concept behind of "sharing" and of "community".It´s a great dedication to a great artist, that i apreciate so much:Joe!This is very beautiful,Mark!Thank you.

Wow. This is breathtakingly gorgeous! I love scrolling up and down it slowly and sort of feeling the colors and nuances and twists and curves! The back to the top and down faster .. it's like free falling through an aurora borealis!

Outstanding! For colors and forms, and this is a wonderful format for to contain the work. Printed on thin fabric, hanging long into space, movement of air and light around it and through it, not to step on your vision but I'd love to see this that way.

Spectacular! I love the colors, the graceful curves, the feeling of a wet window ... (that's a compliment, coming from a Seattlite!) ... beautiful work!

This is quite spectacular. There is a feeling to this that can only be described as "fractal" though there's a warmer, more organic overtone to this image as well. Fractal art has always interested me, and though this isn't purely fractal, it has that infinitely recursive quality, as well as that sense of abstract pixellation that is wholly an artifact of late 20th and early 21st Century art. There are a group of artists in Russia who deal with fractals, at least metaphorically, Victor, my dearest friend, is one of them, and he's making quite a mark in Moscow. Anyway, back to the image. The colors are astounding, rich and wonderfully cool. There's a sensual quality to this whole thing that, naturally, I'd like. It's deliciously organic, somewhat liquid, and it's one of those pieces that demands (and rewards) multiple, contemplative viewings.
