Description

Believe it or not, this is a very strange kind of plant!! I was going thru my files and found all these fotos from a botanical garden near Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. These odd little blooms grow in a line, almost as though they were hung from a clothesline!!

Now, those are unique blooms...looks like they might be effective eating insects too. Glad you found these.

Extraordinary !!! We have a local carnivourous plant breeder who went into his Greenhouse one day and tracked down a truly disgusting smell to a rotting mouse in something like this!

Amazing, they do look like water pitchers, with handles, spouts and all. I was watching an old rerun of "Outer Limits" late the other night on TV, and the story was about an alien species of plant that landed on our planet, instantly and wildly reproducing while killing all earth life forms within its general area, and, ironically, looking very much like the yellow blooms shown above. In any case, splendid colors, lighting and textures in this composition.

Fascinating. I know of various plants that are shaped to maximize water capture but I've never seen a plant so literally shaped like a pitcher.

I've heard of these flowers but never have seen any in person. Fantastic capture of an unusual flower!

"Believe it or not, this is a very strange kind of plant"——I believe you! Strange is the right word! They look like bagpipe sacs, or as you say, like pitchers. They really look like cloth. And there's stuff in the background that's wild too, like a big scarf or serape all scrolled up. Amazing capture! And booming in yellows & golds. I love the power you upload here all the time...terrific.

Andrea beat me to it. I was also wondering if these strange looking plants were designed to capture insects???? Great find and capture. Dana P
