Description

Mating season has come a gone for most of the birds in my back yard and now they’re settling in to hatch their eggs and raise their young. The migrating birds have mostly felt and I’m starting to see some of the summer residents returning. It’s been pretty slow around the feeders for the last 3 weeks or so it always is this time of year; but the activity has really picked in the last few days. Shot this yesterday on a very windy and cloudy morning just waiting for the rains to come. The Blue Jays have been in abundance but trying to catch one up close can be a challenge. As lick would have it I was standing just inside the back door; had the door propped open and this guy landed on the knothole. The green leaves on the right are from a potted plant I had set on the corner of the porch rail and the leaves kept blowing across my line of sight creating another challenge, but I was able to get a few shots before he realized I was standing there and off he went. They can be quick to fly. Keep baiting them in and you will get the captures you want. Excellent capture even with the wind and your plant crossing the view.

He is a beauty and the shot even with the leaf in the way is awesome! The birds are still mating here and its a real laugh riot watching some of their antics!
